Charbrew's green tea is one of our masterpieces, carefully picked green leaves are steamed immediately after plucking to produce a light subtle infusion with a delicate fragrance. The long leaves yield a luminous slightly sweet liquor with intense aroma. Many people confuse green tea with a bitter and insipid tea due to drinking low quality blends of green tea, at Charbrew we are nothing but taste and profile of each of our special blends, our Green Tea is a blend which we are very proud of.

What is Green Tea?

Green tea comes from the same plant (Camellia sinensis) as black, and oolong tea. The difference between the varieties is the way in which they are processed. Green tea is made from unfermented leaves which undergo minimal oxidisation. This allows the chemicals and enzymes in the leaves to remain intact. Black tea is cut after drying in order for the chemicals to oxidise.

Green tea goes through less processing than black tea, which is why it retains numerous beneficial properties.

The Green Tea Plant

The Camellia sinensis plant is native to the rainy forests in Southeast Asia, particularly in the Fujian Province. An abundance of fertile soil led the Fujian Province to become one of the nation's principal tea producing areas. Today, tea is now grown throughout much of Asia and some parts of Africa and the Middle East too.

Green Tea Uses

Tea is the second most widely consumed beverage in the world, only surpassed by water. Green tea has been enjoyed throughout the ages for a number of reasons, from hydration to physical wellbeing.

Catechins, a component of green tea, are thought to give it a slightly bitter taste. However, Charbrew green tea has undergone a steaming process to give it a sweeter taste.
