How to Brew the Perfect Chai Tea (Without Overcomplicating Things)

There are few things in life more comforting than a steaming mug of chai. It’s warm, aromatic, gently spicy and somehow makes you feel like you’ve got your life together - even if the laundry is still sitting in the basket.

Our Charbrew Chai Tea is a delicious blend of black tea, ginger, cinnamon and cardamom, designed to make a wonderfully warming cuppa without requiring a cupboard full of mysterious spices.

So, kettle at the ready. Here’s how to brew it.

What you’ll need

  • 1 Charbrew Chai Tea pyramid
  • 100ml freshly boiled water
  • Steamed milk
  • Sweetener of your choice, if desired
  • Your favourite mug (obviously)

Our Chai Tea comes in pyramid bags, packed inside a reusable Mason jar - because your tea deserves a nice home too. The jar can be reused for storing food, flowers, pens, or whatever else you fancy.

Step 1: Boil the kettle

Freshly boiled water is the starting point for chai greatness.

Try not to wander off while the kettle is doing its thing. We’ve all been there. You put the kettle on, get distracted for approximately seven hours, and return to find it has apparently forgotten its purpose.

Step 2: Add your chai

Pop one Charbrew Chai Tea pyramid into your mug and pour over 100ml of freshly boiled water.

The pyramid shape gives those lovely tea leaves and spices plenty of room to mingle, which is exactly what we want. Let the ginger, cinnamon and cardamom get acquainted.

Step 3: Let it brew

Leave your chai to infuse for 2–3 minutes.

This is the important bit: resist the urge to aggressively dunk the tea bag as though you're conducting a tiny tea-based workout.

Just let it steep and do its thing.

As it brews, you’ll get that gorgeous warming aroma from the black tea and spices.

Step 4: Remove the tea bag

Once your chai has had its 2–3 minutes, remove the tea pyramid.

Give it a little moment of appreciation, then send it on its way.

Step 5: Add steamed milk

Now for the magic.

Top your spiced tea with steamed milk and watch your simple brew transform into a creamy, comforting chai.

You can use dairy milk, oat milk, almond milk or whichever milk makes your mug happiest.

Step 6: Sweeten to taste

Fancy things a little sweeter?

Add your favourite sweetener to taste. Honey, sugar or your preferred alternative can all work beautifully with those warming spices.

Start with a little - you can always add more. Unlike enthusiasm, you can't easily take it back out.

And... relax

That’s it!

You've just brewed a deliciously warming chai without needing to simmer a saucepan of milk, grind approximately 47 spices or accidentally redecorate the kitchen in cinnamon.

The result is a bold, aromatic cup of black tea with warming notes of ginger, cinnamon and cardamom - perfect for slow mornings, cosy afternoons or those moments when you simply need to sit down and have a proper cuppa.

Fancy making it your own?

Try adding a sprinkle of cinnamon on top, a drizzle of honey or a little extra frothy milk for an indulgent finish.

And when you've enjoyed all 16 tea pyramids, don't forget about the Mason jar. Give it a wash and let it live its second life as a storage jar, mini vase or desk organiser. Tea that keeps on giving? We'll drink to that.
